FAMILY
FARMING
We’ve been farming for three generations on our mixed farms since Gordon Porter first started farming East Scryne in 1942.
Since his son, William H Porter, started growing strawberries in 1962, the soft fruit enterprise has grown quickly. We now employ over 150 seasonal workers and 16 permanent staff.
As well as being the third generation of Porter’s to manage the business, James Porter was Chair of the Horticulture Committee at NFUS. James is currently the Chairman of the machinery ring, Ringlink Scotland, and also a columnist in the Scottish Farmer.
